Karnataka Caste Census: Vokkaliga legislators from Congress to hold meeting tomorrow | Bangalore News

Amid opposition from dominant caste teams to the ‘Socio-economic and Instructional Survey’, popularly referred to as the Caste Census report, Vokkaliga legislators from the Congress will maintain a dialogue over the difficulty Tuesday. This improvement got here following calls for by legislators from the group to refer the Census to a Cupboard sub-committee.

Talking to reporters on Monday, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D Okay Shivakumar – who belongs to the Vokkaliga group – stated {that a} assembly of the legislators from the group will likely be held to gather opinions in regards to the Caste Census report.

The assembly will likely be held at 6 pm on Tuesday night on the official residence of the deputy chief minister.

The 50-volume Survey report was positioned earlier than the Cupboard final Friday and has attracted criticism from Opposition events, the BJP and the Janata Dal (Secular), together with seers from the dominant communities.

On Monday, Congress MLC Dinesh Gooligowda wrote to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar to kind a group of consultants or a Cupboard sub-committee of senior ministers to review the contents of the report. The MLC stated that the report has triggered issues amongst numerous communities.

In the meantime, JD(S) chief Nikhil Kumaraswamy mounted an assault on the Survey report alleging that Siddaramaiah had ready the report for political achieve. “I’ve doubts whether or not the Census was performed in any respect,” he stated, contending that the Census was not performed by visiting all households.
