Karnataka drops plan to collect monthly donations in government schools

Karnataka’s faculty schooling division on Saturday withdrew an order to gather Rs 100 as month-to-month donations from dad and mom of presidency faculty college students, after lecturers and pupil teams equated the transfer to “robbing poor households”.

The October 19 order allowed faculty improvement and monitoring committees to gather no less than Rs 100 each month from every guardian to develop infrastructure, pay visitor academics and meet different bills.

In keeping with a division official, though authorities colleges do obtain donations, the initiative was consistent with the My College Our Contributions marketing campaign to make sure the event of colleges.

The order additionally listed major functions for which these donations could be used. A few of them are ingesting water, rest room and sanitation, electrical energy payments, noon meals, honorariums to visitor academics, e-learning centres, libraries and playgrounds.

The All India Democratic College students Organisation had threatened an agitation towards the plan.
