The Karnataka Excessive Courtroom Friday quashed a sexual assault case filed in opposition to Malayalam filmmaker Ranjith Balakrishnan. The order was handed by a single-judge bench consisting of Justice S R Krishna Kumar.
The Karnataka Excessive Courtroom had beforehand granted a keep on investigation on this case, making robust observations relating to the prima facie lack of veracity of the allegations.
The case was filed underneath sections 377 of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the IT Act by a person who claimed to have been an aspiring actor on the time of the alleged assault.
The complainant had alleged that he was referred to as to the Taj Resort on the Bengaluru Worldwide Airport in 2012, the place he was given directions to achieve a selected room. He had claimed that, thereafter, Balakrishnan sexually assaulted him within the resort room.
Whereas staying the investigation in opposition to Balakrishnan in 2024, the excessive courtroom had questioned the delay of 12 years in registering the criticism. It went on to explain it as a “basic case of falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus (false in a single, false in all).”
