Karnataka seeks release of Rs 4,195 crore for centrally sponsored schemes | Bangalore News

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah mentioned Wednesday that the Karnataka authorities will urge elected MPS from the state to strain the Central authorities to launch its share of Rs 4,195 crore allotted to centrally sponsored schemes (CSS), which has been pending for the 2024-25 fiscal.

He was talking following a gathering of the District Growth Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) held to evaluate the implementation of CSS within the state. For the 2024-25 fiscal, the overall expenditure on CSS was Rs 46,859 crore, of which the Centre’s share was Rs 22,758 crore and state’s share Rs 24,101 crore.

“Nevertheless, the Centre has launched solely Rs 18,562 crore; the remaining quantity of round Rs 4,000 crore is but to be launched by the Centre,” he mentioned, mentioning that the state was spending greater than the Centre to finance the 67 CSS.

The CM mentioned that through the 2024-25 fiscal 12 months, as a result of delay within the Central authorities’s launch of funds, solely 83 per cent of the overall funds allotted for these schemes have been spent.

Although the funds don’t lapse and get transferred to the opening stability of varied CSS accounts, it causes delays in implementing the schemes.

“I’ve requested officers to put in writing to the Central authorities to make sure that the funds are launched quickly,” Siddaramaiah mentioned, noting that he had petitioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in regards to the situation earlier.

He mentioned he would write to MPs from Karnataka, slicing throughout get together traces, to induce the Centre to make sure the well timed launch of those funds.

Through the assembly, it was revealed that the state spent Rs 5,665.95 crore for varied welfare schemes equivalent to old-age and incapacity pensions below CSS.

“Whereas the allocation for the Centre for these schemes was Rs 559.61 cr, the Centre launched solely Rs 113.92 cr,” the CM mentioned, in response to a notice issued by the Chief Ministers’ Workplace.

The assembly additionally mentioned the announcement made within the 2023-24 Union price range for the Higher Bhadra challenge. Although Rs 5,360 crore was introduced for the challenge, which goals to enhance irrigation in central Karnataka districts, Siddaramaiah famous that not a single rupee has been launched so far.
