Karnataka: Transport department charge-sheets 6 officials in Gadag over Maharashtra logo on bus tickets

The divisional controller of Gadag Highway Transport has charge-sheeted six officers – three from the Gadag bus depot and three from the Rona bus depot within the Gadag area – for distributing bus tickets bearing the brand of the Maharashtra State Highway Transport Company (MSRTC). The transport division has additionally ordered a departmental inquiry and issued a discover to the personal firm that supplied ticket rolls to Gadag Highway Transport.

A press launch by the transport division acknowledged that digital ticket machine (ETM) rolls stuffed in two bins belonging to the MSRTC had been provided to Gadag Highway Transport. The discharge stated the officers didn’t verify the rolls correctly and the conductors distributed them amongst passengers. After the difficulty was reported, the division discovered that round 70 such rolls had been supplied to the Rona bus depot and 60 rolls got to the Gadag bus depot.

The North Western Karnataka Highway Transport Company (NWKRTC), which runs Gadag Highway Transport, drew public ire after passengers highlighted the Maharashtra emblem on bus tickets. The brand additionally carried a tagline, ‘Jai Maharashtra’, triggering protests by pro-Kannada teams in Gadag Wednesday.
