Karnataka truck operators withdraw strike as govt releases pending dues under Anna Bhagya | Bangalore News

The Federation of Karnataka State Lorry Homeowners and Brokers’ Affiliation on Tuesday withdrew its indefinite strike name after the federal government mentioned it launched Rs 244 crore in dues pending for transport operators beneath the flagship Anna Bhagya scheme.

“The federal government has given us in writing that the dues might be cleared within the subsequent two days. So we’ve determined to withdraw the strike,” mentioned G R Shanmugappa, president of the federation.

The protest, introduced by the federation on Monday, had threatened to disrupt the availability of subsidised foodgrains to ration retailers beneath the Congress authorities’s scheme benefiting low-income households, probably affecting meals safety in Karnataka.

The truck operators had halted rice transportation beneath the scheme, citing unpaid dues of Rs 260 crore from February to June 2025. Shanmugappa had claimed that 3,500–4,000 drivers had been affected, with some having pawned jewelry to fulfill gasoline and different bills and going through truck seizures by finance corporations.

The state authorities had promised funds to be made by June 19, however didn’t clear the dues.
