A younger man, who fled Sri Lanka in a ship to India, jumped into the ocean whereas nearing Tamil Nadu coast and swam until he reached the shore close to right here, police stated on Monday.
The 24-year outdated man joined a 5-member household and so they collectively started their clandestine journey from Talaimannar in Sri Lanka to India on the evening of October 8 in a ship, a marine police official stated.
When the boat was near Tamil Nadu coast, the person, recognized as Kasankan Ravichandran, jumped into the ocean, off a sand dune/islet, he stated. From that time, he swam until he reached the shore near Mandapam after crossing Arichalmunai-Dhanushkodi areas in coastal Tamil Nadu. Kasankan reported to officers in Mandapam on Sunday and he’s being questioned. Roughly, he reportedly coated 6-8 nautical miles.
Throughout preliminary questioning, it was discovered that he had a Sri Lankan passport that expired in 2020. His mother and father are reportedly dwelling in Puducherry. A probe is on, the official stated.
