Longtime Colorado Division of Corrections staffer Moses “Andre” Stancil has been appointed the division’s government director.
Stancil, who has been serving as interim government director for DOC since December was appointed Tuesday by Gov. Jared Polis.
“It’s the honor of my profession to be chosen because the DOC government director,” Stancil stated in a governor’s workplace information launch. “I started my profession over 24 years in the past working as an entry-level corrections officer at DOC, and I’m honored to proceed the necessary work serving the folks of Colorado and supporting the 1000’s of devoted DOC workers members who assist defend public security daily.”
Stancil beforehand served DOC as deputy government director from February 2022 to November 2022, and he served as DOC’s deputy government director of jail operations from 2019 to 2022. Stancil labored within the Federal Bureau of Prisons in a number of roles from 1998 to 2019.
“Andre has been a devoted member of the Federal Bureau of Prisons group and now the Colorado Division of Corrections for a few years, and we’re thrilled that he’ll deliver his experience and dedication to this important position,” stated Polis. “We sit up for persevering with our work to make Colorado one of many ten most secure states within the nation within the subsequent 5 years working intently with Andre on the helm of DOC.”
Stancil started his profession as a correctional officer with the DOC and served within the U.S. Military as a navy police investigator. He earned a grasp’s diploma in criminology in 2009 and a bachelor’s diploma in behavioral science, each from Regis College.
The appointment requires state Senate affirmation.
