Mumbai Dabbawalas to attend King Charles’ coronation? Here’s what they will gift | Latest News India

The well-known dabbawalas of Mumbai on Tuesday have been seen shopping for presents for Britain’s King Charles as they claimed that they’ve been invited to attend his coronation ceremony on Might 6. The dabbawalas have purchased a Puneri Pagadi and a Scarf of the Warkari neighborhood for the King, reported information company ANI. Reportedly, the British Embassy has despatched invites to the dabbawalas to attend the coronation ceremony of the 74-year-old monarch.

Spokesperson for Mumbai dabbawalas Vishnu Kaldoke instructed ANI: “Mumbai Dabbawalas have had good relations with the British royalty. Two dabbawalas have been invited to his wedding ceremony. It was an honour for us. He’s about to change into the King. So, we need to current King Charles with Puneri Pagadi & a scarf of the Warkari neighborhood.”

Reportedly in 2003, Charles III had met the dabbawalas at Mumbai’s Churchgate station throughout his go to to the town. Later in 2005, two dabbawalas attended the royal wedding ceremony of Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles.

When Queen Elizabeth II handed away in 2022, the Mumbai Dabbawala Affiliation expressed their sorrow. “The Mumbai Dabbawala Affiliation has had a really shut relationship with the British Royal Household ever since Prince Charles visited India. We’re very unhappy to listen to in regards to the dying of Queen Elizabeth II and all Dabbawalas pray that her soul rests in peace,” Chairman of the affiliation Subhash Talekar had mentioned.
