Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday claimed that the inhabitants of Muslims in Assam will probably be nearly equal to that of the Hindus by 2041 if the present development charge is maintained.
Addressing a press convention after a cupboard assembly right here, Sarma claimed that out of round 34 per cent Muslims as per the 2011 census, 31 per cent have been those that had migrated to Assam earlier.
When requested if Assamese indigenous folks will turn out to be a minority after some years, he stated, “This isn’t my take, it’s simply the Census consequence. Right now as per the 2011 Census, 34 per cent of the inhabitants is Muslim.” Out of the full Muslim inhabitants of the state, three per cent are indigenous Assamese Muslims, Sarma acknowledged.
