NATO on Sunday criticised Russia for its “harmful and irresponsible” nuclear rhetoric, a day after Russian President Vladimir Putin stated Russia would station tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus.
“NATO is vigilant, and we’re carefully monitoring the scenario. We’ve not seen any adjustments in Russia’s nuclear posture that will lead us to regulate our personal,” a NATO spokesperson stated.
“Russia’s reference to NATO’s nuclear sharing is completely deceptive. NATO allies act with full respect of their worldwide commitments. Russia has persistently damaged its arms management commitments, most lately suspending its participation within the New START Treaty.”
