NIA to take Mangaluru blast accused into custody | Bengaluru

The Nationwide Investigation Company (NIA) is about to take Mangaluru cooker blast accused Mohammed Shariq into custody following his restoration, sources aware of the case mentioned. Shariq, who was present process therapy within the Victoria Hospital right here for burn accidents, is learnt to have recovered from the accidents. Following his restoration, the NIA has determined to take him into custody for questioning, the sources mentioned.

Shariq was injured when the cooker bomb he was allegedly holding whereas travelling in an autorickshaw on November 19 in Mangaluru exploded. Together with him, the auto-rickshaw driver too was wounded. The accused had sustained 40 per cent burn accidents. As his survival was essential to probe the matter, he was shifted to the Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru for additional therapy. Shariq, a local of Tirthahalli in Shivamogga district, was allegedly impressed by the phobia outfit Islamic State and was planning to arrange an identical IS base in Shivamogga city. The alleged IS-inspired terror module was busted final 12 months when a gaggle went on a rampage and after vandalising some public properties, one in all its member stabbed a person.

These arrested later revealed their plans and in addition confessed that they’d carried out an experimental blast on the banks of Tunga river. Whereas many individuals had been arrested, Shariq gave the police and safety businesses a slip and emerged solely on November 19.
