Residents of a non-descript village in Maharashtra have fun Dussehra differently as they carry out the ‘aarti’ of demon king Ravan on the pageant when his effigies are burnt in different components of the nation.

Many residents of Sangola village in Akola district consider they’re employed and capable of maintain their livelihood due to Ravan’s blessings and the peace and happiness of their village is due to the demon king.

Locals declare the custom of worshipping Ravan for his “intelligence and ascetic qualities” has been occurring within the village for the final 300 years.

On the centre of the village stands a tall black stone statue of the 10-headed demon king.

The villagers consider in Lord Ram, however in addition they place confidence in Ravan and don’t burn his effigies, native resident Bhivaji Dhakre instructed PTI on the event of Dussehra on Wednesday.

Sangola resident Subodh Hatole stated, “With the blessings of Mahatma Ravan, right now many individuals within the village are employed. On the day of Dussehra, we worship the statue of Ravan with a maha-aarti.” Among the villagers hail Ravan as a “scholar” and consider he kidnapped Sita for “political causes and preserved her sanctity”, Dhakre stated.

Native temple priest Haribhau Lakhade stated whereas the remainder of the nation burns effigies of Ravana on Dussehra, symbolising the victory of excellent over evil, residents of Sangola worship the demon king for his “intelligence and ascetic qualities”.

Lakhade stated his household has since lengthy been worshipping Ravan and claimed the happiness, peace and contentment within the village is due to the Lanka king.
