Islamabad:
Pakistan Folks’s Get together (PPP) secured victory in bypolls for 4 of six vacant Senate seats on Thursday, ARY Information reported.
Polling, which befell within the Nationwide Meeting Corridor, targeted on one vacant Senate seat from Islamabad.
Based on ARY Information, PPP candidate Yousaf Raza Gilani was introduced because the winner with 204 votes, whereas Chaudhary Ilyas Mehrban of the Sunni Ittehad Council secured 88 votes, ending because the runner-up.
Within the Sindh Meeting, PPP candidates Jam Saifullah Dharijo and Aslam Abro had been introduced as winners with 58 and 57 votes, respectively.
Nazirullah and Shazia Sohail from the opposition SIC secured 4 votes every. As many as 124 MPAs, together with 116 from PPP and eight from SIC, participated within the polling course of. Earlier within the day, the Election Fee of Pakistan (ECP) introduced a schedule for elections on forty-eight vacant Senate seats.
Based on the schedule, polling shall be held on the second of subsequent month from 9 am to 4 pm. The candidates can file their nomination papers with the returning officers from tomorrow till Saturday.
The nineteenth of this month has been fastened for the scrutiny of nomination papers. A revised record of the candidates shall be issued on the twenty sixth of this month, and the candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by the twenty seventh of this month.
These seats turned vacant after the expiration of the time period of the incumbent members on the eleventh of this month.
