Protests broke out on Bangalore College’s Jnana Bharati campus after a state-run bus ran over and significantly injured a pupil who tried to board it round 10 am on Monday.
Shilpashree, a pupil of the arithmetic division, is admitted to a non-public hospital, in keeping with protesters, who gathered within the hundred to demand a ban on public automobiles on the campus. They blocked the entry and exit gates of the campus.
The driving force of the bus of the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Company (BMTC) was booked on the Jnana Bharati police station on prices of negligence.
Lokesh Ram, a pupil, mentioned it was not the primary accident on the campus. “Previously two months, there have been a number of accidents involving personal and public automobiles. We’re on an indefinite strike till the college decides to ban all automobiles besides these of scholars and instructing and non-teaching workers of the college from getting into the campus,” he mentioned. “The demand to ban automobiles has been there for the previous 10 years. We wish visitors police to challenge different routes away from the campus.”
Transport authorities, college officers and cops are taking inventory of the scenario on the campus.
