The Election Fee of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday introduced Could 14 because the revised date for the Punjab Meeting polls, Pakistan-based Daybreak newspaper reported. This comes after the Pakistan Supreme Courtroom’s (SC) directives that the elections be held on Could 14 as a substitute of the beforehand notified date of October 8.
The revised schedule was issued in a notification which cited the Supreme Courtroom’s order in response to a petition filed by the PTI towards the ECP’s determination to delay the Punjab Meeting elections from the initially determined date of April 30 to October 8.

In line with Daybreak, elections to the Punjab Meeting have been due since January this 12 months when the home was dissolved. In early March, the ECP had proposed that the elections be held between April 30 and Could 7 and subsequently, President Arif Alvi accepted the fee’s suggestions by setting April 30 because the date for the polls.
The date was formally notified by the electoral watchdog on March 8, nevertheless it was later deferred to October 8 in one other notification issued by the ECP on March 22, as per Daybreak.
