Congress chief Rahul Gandhi Wednesday wrote to the Karnataka authorities searching for its pressing intervention to rescue an injured elephant calf at Nagarahole Tiger Reserve, unfold over Mysuru and Kodagu areas.
Rahul, who was on a two-day break from his nationwide Bharat Jodo Yatra visited the wildlife reserve alongside along with his mom and AICC president Sonia Gandhi Tuesday. He posted an image of the elephant with its injured calf on Twitter Wednesday.
The elephant calf has a “severely injured tail and trunk, and is combating for its life,” he stated within the letter addressed to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
“I perceive and respect that there’s a view that nature should be allowed to take its personal course. Nevertheless, within the case of endangered and iconic species, exceptions are sometimes made relying on the severity of the state of affairs. The aforementioned calf is undoubtedly in want of pressing medical care,” Rahul stated within the letter.

Rahul stated that he wished “to cross political boundaries and enchantment to your (Bommai) sense of compassion to intervene and save the little elephant,” including that the calf might survive if given correct therapy.
In keeping with forest officers, the calf is round 2-3 months outdated and it might have been injured by a carnivore corresponding to a tiger or a leopard.
