JACKSON COUNTY — A rancher and greater than 30 head of cattle have been killed by a lightning strike in Jackson County on Saturday, in keeping with the Jackson County Coroner’s Workplace.
As first reported by Steamboat Radio, the strike killed the animals and 51-year-old Mike Morgan, who had simply completed branding cattle and was beginning to feed them when lightning struck. It knocked about 100 head of cattle off their toes, killing 34 of them.

Jackson County Coroner George Crocket informed Steamboat Radio {that a} storm blew in northwest of Rand Saturday afternoon.
The Nationwide Climate Service (NWS) out of Boulder famous the storm because it moved east on Saturday, and warned individuals within the foothills and Font Vary to go inside in the event that they heard thunder.
