One other Russian basic has been arrested on corruption costs as President Vladimir Putin continues to shake up his high navy brass with a sequence of high-profile arrests, RadarOnline.com has realized.
Lt. Gen. Vadim Shamarin, deputy chief of the military’s basic workers and head of the Essential Communications Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces, was detained on Thursday after being accused of large-scale bribery, the Related Press stories.
In accordance with Reuters, Shamarin stands accused of taking bribes of over 36 million rubles ($400,000) in alternate for putting giant state contracts with a manufacturing unit within the Ural mountains that produces communications tools. He faces as much as 15 years in jail.
