SC seeks report from CBI on ex-minister Reddy’s plea to visit Bellary

The Supreme Court docket on Thursday sought a report from the CBI on a plea filed by mining baron and former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy to go to and keep for 4 weeks in his native district Bellary to fulfill his daughter who has delivered a baby not too long ago.

Reddy was granted conditional bail by the apex court docket in January 2015 after spending greater than three years in jail.

Reddy and his brother-in-law B V Srinivas Reddy, managing director of the Obalapuram Mining Firm (OMC), had been arrested by CBI on September 5, 2011, from Bellary and delivered to Hyderabad.

The corporate is accused of fixing mining lease boundary markings and indulging in unlawful mining within the Bellary Reserve Forest space, unfold over Bellary in Karnataka and the Ananthpur district of Andhra Pradesh.
