Seat blocking in NEET-PG admissions: Supreme Court orders mandatory pre-counselling fee disclosure | India News

In a major transfer to curb malpractice in postgraduate medical admissions, the Supreme Courtroom has directed all non-public and deemed universities to reveal charges previous to NEET-PG counselling. Stressing the necessity for structural reform, the bench added, “Attaining a really truthful and environment friendly system would require greater than coverage tweaks; it calls for structural coordination, technological modernisation, and strong regulatory accountability at each state and Central ranges.”

To handle these challenges, the Supreme Courtroom ordered the implementation of a nationally synchronised counselling calendar. This measure goals to align All India Quota and state counselling rounds to curb seat blocking and guarantee a degree taking part in subject for all candidates.

The courtroom additionally added, “Mandate pre-counselling price disclosure by all non-public/deemed universities, detailing tuition, hostel, warning deposit, and miscellaneous fees. Set up a centralised price regulation framework below the Nationwide Medical Fee.”

In an extra effort to tighten the method, the bench known as for stringent penalties towards seat blocking. “Implement strict penalties for seat blocking together with forfeiture of safety deposit, disqualification from future NEET-PG exams and blacklisting complicit schools,” it mentioned.

The ruling was issued in response to a petition by the Uttar Pradesh authorities and the Director Common of Medical Schooling & Coaching, Lucknow.
