BJP chief Pragya Thakur’s controversial assertion – ‘Hindus have the proper to reply to those that assault them… with sharpened knives’ – has triggered a livid response from the Congress in Karnataka. Pragya Thakur, a MP from Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal – was at an occasion in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district on Sunday when she made the remark in query.
Karnataka Congress MLA Priyank Kharge hit again Tuesday, warning of authorized motion towards Pragya Thakur, who has a historical past of creating controversial feedback and is a chief accused within the 2008 Malegaon blasts case. “It’s unlucky that such statements are being made by an MP. This weekend, Pragya Thakur was addressing right-wing group Hindu Jagarana Vedike when she mentioned ‘knives for reducing greens may reduce heads and mouths of enemies’.
“Hold your daughters protected and guarded. Hold weapons at residence. If nothing else, sharpen the knife used to chop greens. I am talking it clearly. They’ve used knives towards the Hindu braves, employees of Bajrang Dal, BJP. We must also maintain our knives used for chopping greens sharp. We do not know when and which scenario might arrive. If our greens are reduce effectively, heads and mouths of our enemies may also be reduce effectively,” she declared.

“Everybody has the proper to self-defence. If someone intrudes on our residence and nation and assaults us, then it’s our responsibility to reply to it,” the lawmaker ranted.
Predictably some members of the ruling BJP have rushed to Thakur’s protection, claiming she was referring to girls’s self-defence. Nonetheless, the Madhya Pradesh unit of the Congress has demanded {that a} case of treason be filed since she had ‘incited individuals’ to violence.
