The son of the Regional Transportation District police chief was killed within the line of responsibility Saturday night time whereas pursuing a suspect in Philadelphia.
Temple College police Officer Christopher Fitzgerald was shot and killed Saturday night time. He’s the son of RTD police Chief Joel Fitzgerald Sr.
“RTD is deeply saddened to be taught concerning the tragic and unimaginable lack of Chief Fitzgerald’s son Christopher, a police officer, who was killed within the line of responsibility,” the transportation company stated in an announcement. “We ship our deepest condolences to the whole Fitzgerald household and all these mourning Christopher.”
Christopher Fitzgerald, 31, leaves behind a spouse and 4 kids, in accordance with Temple College. He joined the college’s police division in 2021.
“Officer Fitzgerald beloved being a police officer, and he’ll all the time be remembered for his fearlessness in preventing crime and his compassion for his group,” in accordance with a web-based fundraiser for his household.
Philadelphia police arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of killing Fitzgerald, in accordance with The Philadelphia Inquirer.
