A priest in Spain has been arrested for allegedly promoting Viagra illegally from his residence. The unnamed man was detained alongside one other man on suspicion of promoting the medicine, in addition to “different highly effective aphrodisiac substances”, BBC reported.
The person was arrested in Spain’s western Extremadura area and has appeared in courtroom charged with a legal offence. The priest’s lawyer informed native media the allegations have been unfounded.
Spanish information retailers reported that the person’s arrest within the city of Don Benito adopted a months-long investigation into the alleged sale of managed substances by the priest and a second man.
El Pais claimed the second man who was detained was the priest’s romantic associate, and so they offered substances to prospects from their residence. On Monday, the property was positioned below police surveillance and raided by the Civil Guard.
The priest’s lawyer mentioned “there is no such thing as a proof that incriminates” his shopper and “he didn’t know something”, in keeping with El Mundo.
In the meantime, Viagra is out there from pharmacies below Spanish regulation. It’s unclear what different substances have been the 2 males promoting.
In an announcement, the Diocese of Plasencia – which the priest’s church belongs to – mentioned it was “ready for the info to be clarified” and for the investigation to proceed.
It mentioned the church “definitely remorse(s) the occasions described by the ache, struggling and scandal they entail”.
