The Sri Lankan Navy on Sunday arrested 8 Indian fishermen and seized their trawler for allegedly poaching within the island nation’s waters, in line with an official launch.
The arrests had been made throughout a search operation within the north of Mannar, the Navy mentioned in a press launch.
The eight fishermen and their trawler could be handed over to the Fisheries Inspectorate in Mannar for authorized proceedings, it mentioned.
“The North Central Naval Command noticed a bunch of Indian fishing boats partaking in unlawful fishing, trespassing into Sri Lankan waters within the early hours of in the present day.
