Summit County owners filed a federal lawsuit on Monday, Aug. 14, to halt new laws on short-term rental properties in unincorporated components of the county.
The lawsuit alleges the Summit Board of County Commissioners imposed “successively extra extreme, wide-ranging, misguided and illegal laws” after they voted to implement caps on short-term rental licenses and limits on bookings earlier this 12 months.
For many years, short-term leases “have been a fixture throughout Summit County and have supported the county’s financial system,” the lawsuit states.
It claims the brand new laws deal with county owners in a different way, threaten their livelihoods and violate quite a few property rights beneath america Structure and Colorado state regulation.
