Giulia Manfrini, 36, from Turin in northern Italy, had been browsing within the waters of the Mentawai Islands Regency, West Sumatra Province, earlier than the incident on Friday, based on stories.
Two witnesses are stated to have tried to supply first help to Ms Manfrini – who was later taken to a medical centre – after a swordfish struck her within the chest.
James Colston, who arrange a journey company with Ms Manfrini, stated on Instagram: “Even with the courageous efforts of her companion, native resort employees and medical doctors, Giulia could not be saved.”

Mr Colston stated his former colleague had suffered “a freak accident”, including that “we consider she died doing what she cherished, in a spot that she cherished”.
“Giulia was the lifeblood of this firm and her infectious enthusiasm for surf, snow and life might be remembered by all that got here involved together with her,” he stated.
Fabio Giulivi, the mayor of Ms Manfrini’s hometown Venaria Reale, stated: “The information of her demise has left us shocked and makes us really feel powerless in entrance of the tragedy that took her life so prematurely.”
