Temple priest, panchayat officer face action over derogatory remarks against Karnataka CM

The Bengaluru Police in Karnataka arrested an assistant priest on Saturday after he allegedly used abusive language towards Chief Minister Siddaramaiah whereas criticizing the choice to ask Booker Prize winner Banu Mustaq to inaugurate the upcoming Mysuru Dasara pageant.

The assistant priest, recognized as Gururaj Achar, labored on the Ganapathi temple run by the Sri Raghavendra Swamy Seva Samiti Belief. A police officer mentioned, “whereas chatting with a YouTube information channel, Achar criticised Siddaramaiah’s determination and used derogatory language towards him.”

The Kengeri police registered a suo motu case, arrested Achar and later launched him on station bail. Following the arrest, the temple belief introduced that Achar had been suspended from his place and condemned his remarks.

In a separate case, the police filed prices towards a Panchayat Growth Officer in Kalaburagi district for posting a derogatory WhatsApp standing concentrating on Siddaramaiah. Officers mentioned Praveenkumar Udagi, connected to the Suntanur gram panchayat, had shared a morphed picture on August 21 that confirmed the chief minister sporting a skullcap. Udagi has been suspended pending an inquiry.

Earlier in Might, a warder at Mysuru Central Jail was suspended and arrested after a video circulated on social media wherein he was seen utilizing abusive language towards Siddaramaiah. The warder, recognized as Madhu Kumar, was arrested by the Bettadapura police.
