In 1987, when Martha Stewart’s lawyer husband Andy parted from her after practically 27 years, she properly had the divorce papers sealed. “She did not need her public picture tarnished at a time when she was beginning to grow to be nationally recognized and beloved by hundreds of thousands of followers,” stated a supply.
There was actually sufficient to tarnish a number of kitchens-worth of pots and pans, as a result of Martha, by some accounts, had been the spouse from hell: badgering, threatening and downright merciless.
One Mom’s Day, when her hubby obtained up early to organize her breakfast in mattress, Martha allegedly took umbrage at one thing on the tray and threw the entire meal at him. Typically she relegated him to busboy standing in her catering enterprise and yelled at him for the slightest infraction. “She handled him like a canine,” admitted her personal brother, Frank Kostyra.
And when Andy introduced that he was leaving her, Martha went into an overdrive of fury, reportedly sending poison-pen letters to his friends and storming into his workplace on a number of events, as soon as threatening to shatter the window and throw issues onto the road. What apparently galled her essentially the most was that he’d been the one to finish the wedding.
Andy selected an ironic second to announce his departure – whereas Martha was making a publicity tour for her e book Weddings, which she’d devoted to him. This led somebody at her publishing home to jokingly counsel altering the title to Martha Stewart Divorces.
