Expressing solidarity with Overseas Secretary Vikram Misri after he and a member of the family confronted social media trolling, senior IAS officers, the IAS Affiliation, and retired diplomats Sunday condemned the private assaults.
On Could 10, Misri made the announcement of a ceasefire between India and Pakistan on behalf of the Indian authorities. Following this, Misri and a member of the family grew to become the targets of social media assaults. The senior officer has made his X account non-public now.
Reacting to the assaults, the IAS Affiliation posted on X: “The IAS Affiliation stands in solidarity with Shri Vikram Misri, Overseas Secretary, & his household. Unwarranted private assaults on civil servants performing their duties with integrity are deeply regrettable. We reaffirm our dedication to uphold the dignity of public service.”
Although the account will not be verified on X, it has been lively since 2011, and is adopted by high bureaucrats. The senior officers confirmed that it’s certainly the affiliation’s account.
Not simply the affiliation however fellow 1989-batch civil servants serving within the Union authorities, too, got here out in assist of Misri.

Retired IFS officers, too, expressed dismay on the on-line assaults on Misri and the member of the family.
Nirupama Menon Rao, who retired as overseas secretary in 2011, posted on X: “It’s totally shameful to troll Overseas Secretary Vikram Misri and his household over the India-Pakistan ceasefire announcement. A devoted diplomat, Misri has served India with professionalism and resolve, and there’s no floor by any means for his vilification. Doxxing his daughter and abusing his family members crosses each line of decency. This poisonous hate should cease—stand united behind our diplomats, not tear them down.”
One other retired IFS officer and former Ambassador to UAE and Egypt, Navdeep Suri, posted on X: “It’s completely disgusting to see the trolls goal Overseas Secretary @VikramMisri and his household. He has been an image of professionalism—calm, composed, measured and articulate. However that’s not sufficient for the bloodlust of a piece of our society. Shameful!”
