Trinamool Congress chief Kalyan Banerjee on Tuesday smashed a glass water bottle throughout a heated trade with BJP chief Abhijit Gangopadhyay at a gathering of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Waqf Invoice.
Banerjee harm his thumb and index finger and needed to be given first support, reported PTI.
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and AAP chief Sanjay Singh later escorted the TMP MP out for remedy.
The committee, chaired by BJP MP Jagdambika Pal, was listening to the views of a gaggle of retired judges and legal professionals when the opposition members questioned what was their stake within the invoice.
The assembly was halted after the scuffle.
An eyewitness advised ANI that TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee slammed the water bottle on the desk and harm himself by chance.
On Monday, the JPC assembly on the Waqf (Modification) Invoice, 2024 witnessed heated exchanges as opposition members raised questions on “the consultative course of” over the laws and BJP members countered them.
Some opposition members accused the federal government of bringing the invoice for political causes and alleged that it was geared toward concentrating on the Muslim group. In addition they raised questions over the “urgency” of bringing the invoice.
Trinamool Congress chief Kalyan Banerjee has requested whether or not Waqf, “which exists within the title of Allah, was legally acknowledged by the state.
BJP members have defended the invoice, arguing it was crucial for “reforming Waqf property administration and guaranteeing transparency”.
The Waqf Joint Parliamentary Committee has held 15 conferences in Delhi, whereas 5 conferences have been held in different cities.
The Waqf (Modification) Invoice, 2024 seeks to deliver reforms, introducing digitisation, stricter audits, transparency and authorized mechanisms to reclaim illegally occupied properties.

The JPC has been holding a collection of conferences to take the opinions of presidency officers, authorized consultants, Waqf Board members and group representatives from completely different states and Union Territories.
