Trial run of electric locomotive begins between Karnataka’s Birur and Arsikere | Bengaluru

The South Western Railways on Tuesday performed a profitable trial run of an electrical locomotive practice between Karnataka’s Birur and Arsikere cities. The 42-km route was not too long ago electrified by the South Western Railways and this would be the first electrical locomotive between the 2 cities within the southern state.

In a Tweet, the ministry of railways wrote, “Marching In the direction of #100PercentElectrification. Profitable trial run has been performed on the newly electrified Birur – Arsikere part (42 RKM) of @SWRRLY in Karnataka. This can facilitate swift and seamless motion of passenger & freight trains.”

South Western Railways chief engineer Jai Pal Singh inspected the path run on Tuesday from the loco pilot’s compartment of the brand new electrical locomotive. The railway wing shared a video and wrote, “Shri Jaipal Singh, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, inspected Birur-Arsikere part of #Mysuru Division, right now. Trial run of electrical locomotive on the newly electrified line was efficiently performed.”

Earlier, a gathering was held between Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, by which the Karnataka Energy Transmission Company Restricted (KPTCL) was requested to complete the electrification and operational works between Bengaluru and Hubballi route.
