A tribal couple in Odisha’s Rayagada district have been tied to a yoke like bullocks and compelled to plough farm land by villagers for being in a relationship and getting married “secretly” towards their households’ needs.
Although the incident occurred on Wednesday at Kanjamjodi village below Kalyansinghpur police limits within the tribal-dominated district, a video of the incident went viral on Friday, sparking outrage.
The video reveals the couple with a yoke fabricated from bamboo throughout their shoulders, tilling the land as a “punishment” that had been awarded by a kangaroo courtroom comprising group members.
A bunch of villagers, together with ladies and minors, will be seen witnessing the merciless punishment.
