Tripura goes to polls on 16 February, Meghalaya & Nagaland to vote on 27 February

New Delhi: Meeting elections in Tripura will likely be held on 16 February, whereas Nagaland and Meghalaya will go to polls on 27 February. The outcomes for the three states will likely be declared 2 March, the Election Fee of India introduced Wednesday.

Whereas asserting the dates, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar mentioned that over 1.76 lakh first-time voters would take part within the meeting elections within the three NE states.

“There are greater than 62.8 lakh electors mixed in Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura together with — 31.47 lakh feminine electors, 97,000 80+ voters, and 31,700 PwD voters,” Kumar added.

The five-year time period of three assemblies within the Northeastern states of Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland will finish on March 12, 15 and 22, respectively

The legislative assemblies of the three states have a energy of 60 members every.

With this announcement, Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland will likely be one of many first states to have meeting elections this 12 months.

Whereas Tripura has a Bharatiya Janata Occasion (BJP) authorities; in Nagaland, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Occasion (NDPP) is in energy. Nationwide Individuals’s Occasion (NPP), the one celebration from the Northeast to have a nationwide celebration recognition, runs the federal government in Meghalaya.
