Two individuals have been arrested for allegedly strewing nails on the highway resulting in Datta Peetha throughout the just lately held Datta Jayanti right here with an intention to create bother for pilgrims, police mentioned on Friday. The accused have been recognized as Mohammed Shahbaz (29) and Wahid Hussain (21), each residents of Dubai Nagar within the district headquarters city of Chikkamagaluru.

In response to Chikkamagaluru District Superintendent of Police Uma Prashanth, individuals had complained that there have been numerous small nails strewn on the highway for 3 kilometres from Kaimara check-post to Datta Peetha throughout the competition held between December 6 and eight.

The police registered a case on their very own and began investigation, the officer mentioned and added that Shahbaz and Hussain from Chikkamagaluru have been arrested.

Throughout preliminary interrogation, the duo revealed that they noticed individuals celebrating the competition in a grand means by placing out posters and banners, Prashanth mentioned.

“Since individuals have been celebrating Datta Jayanti in a grand method, they (accused) thought this could not occur. They determined to strew nails which can puncture the tyres of autos and disrupt vehicular motion. They needed autos to cease and the pilgrims to undergo,” she defined.
