Raipur: Two commandos of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Motion (CoBRA) unit — an elite jungle warfare wing of the Central Reserve Police Power (CRPF) — have been injured after an improvised explosive gadget (IED) exploded in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, police stated.
Personnel from the 229th battalion of the CRPF and the 206th battalion of CoBRA have been conducting an anti-Maoist operation when the explosion came about early Thursday morning. The IED was unintentionally triggered when safety personnel got here into contact with it, a senior police officer stated.
The injured commandos, recognized as Mridul Barman and Mohd Ishaq of the 206th CoBRA battalion, have been taken to the Basaguda CRPF camp for preliminary therapy. They have been later referred to Raipur for superior medical care. Their situation is reported to be secure and out of hazard, the officer added.
Comparable assaults have been reported earlier this month. A 10-year-old girl and two policemen were injured in Bijapur because of a strain IED blasts on January 12. On January 11, a CRPF jawan was injured in one other explosion in Bijapur. On January 10, a villager misplaced his life, and three others have been injured in two IED blasts within the Orchha space of Narayanpur district. On January 6, Maoist detonated an IED to explode a car in Bijapur, killing eight police personnel and their driver.
