Two males have been injured in gunfire following an argument with two others at Khumulwng, headquarters of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), police stated on Wednesday.
The police stated that after the firing incident on Monday night time, the victims–Harikumar Debbarma, 68, and Bidhu Debbarma, 45–have been taken to an area hospital first and later to GBP Hospital in Agartala.
“Police are investigating the matter to search out out the reason for the gunfire. A case was lodged on Tuesday. Until now, nobody has been arrested,” a senior officer from the police headquarters stated.
Takarjala Mandal, a pacesetter of Tripura’s ruling BJP, stated that some individuals who launched themselves as activists of the social gathering have been concerned in hooliganism within the locality. One other BJP chief stated the social gathering had no hyperlink with the incident.
“No such activists can keep within the social gathering. If we establish any such, we don’t hold such activists in our social gathering,” the chief advised reporters, including {that a} workforce from the BJP’s state committee would go to the realm on Thursday.

On Tuesday, a delegation from the BJP’s ally TIPRA Motha, which is in energy within the TTAADC, visited the victims and demanded motion towards the assailants.
