Aaronovitch admitted he posted the controversial tweet following Monday’s 6-3 Supreme Courtroom ruling stating that former president Trump has “absolute immunity” from legal prosecution for “official acts” throughout his tenure in workplace.
“The President enjoys no immunity for his unofficial acts, and never every part the President does is official,” Chief Justice John Roberts wrote within the conservative majority’s opinion. “The President is just not above the regulation. However Congress might not criminalize the President’s conduct in finishing up the obligations of the Government Department beneath the Structure.”
“The President due to this fact will not be prosecuted for exercising his core constitutional powers, and he’s entitled, at a minimal, to a presumptive immunity from prosecution for all his official acts. That immunity applies equally to all occupants of the Oval Workplace, no matter politics, coverage, or get together.”
