Seoul:
A US B-1B strategic bomber was redeployed to the Korean peninsula on Saturday for a joint air drill with South Korea, Seoul’s army mentioned, a day after Pyongyang launched an intercontinental ballistic missile.
“South Korea and the US carried out a joint air drill in the present day with the US Air Power’s B-1B strategic bomber redeployed on the Korean peninsula,” the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Employees mentioned in a press release.
A few of the most superior jets within the US and South Korean air forces, together with the F-35 stealth fighter, additionally joined the drill, it mentioned.
North Korea is especially delicate about US-South Korean joint air drills, consultants say, as its air drive is among the weakest hyperlinks in its army, missing high-tech jets and correctly educated pilots.
Whereas the B-1B not carries nuclear weapons, it’s described by the US Air Power as “the spine of America’s long-range bomber drive” that may strike wherever on this planet.
Since Kim declared North Korea an “irreversible” nuclear state in September, Washington has ramped up regional safety cooperation, together with its largest-ever joint air workouts with South Korea this month referred to as “Vigilant Storm”.
