Two mountaineers from Bengaluru who have been reported lacking after being hit by a large avalanche on October 4 at Draupadi Ka Danda-II peak in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district have died, stated officers.
Based on officers, Rakshith Ok, 26, and Vikram M, 33, have been a part of a 41-member group of mountaineers from the Uttarkashi-based Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM). They have been returning together with their instructors after climbing the height as a part of their superior coaching course after they have been hit by the avalanche.
Rakshith and Vikram had enrolled for 28 days of superior mountaineering course on the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering and had efficiently accomplished it. Rakshith was a health care provider and enthusiastic about mountaineering and treks. Vikram was a mechanical engineer with a personal agency in Bengaluru.
The mountaineers have been at camp space 1 when the avalanche struck round 8.45 am on October 4. Groups from the State Catastrophe Response Power (SDRF), Nationwide Catastrophe Response Power (NDRF) and Indian Air Power (IAF) have been deployed for the rescue operation.
