Uttarakhand CM directs officials to set up rehabilitation centre in Joshimath in wake of land subsidence – ThePrint – ANIFeed

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], January 6 (ANI): In view of land subsidence in Joshimath, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday gave directions to arrange a giant non permanent rehabilitation centre within the city.

Chief Minister Dhami chaired a high-level assembly on the Secretariat. He directed officers to arrange a short lived rehabilitation centre at a protected place in Joshimath. He stated that sector and zonal smart planning needs to be made in Joshimath.

The Chief Minister instructed that the hazard zone needs to be vacated instantly and the catastrophe management room needs to be activated in Joshimath directly.

After land subsidence was reported in Joshimath, the Chamoli district administration on Friday instructed to instantly deploy a crew of Nationwide Catastrophe Response Pressure (NDRF) within the city.

A crew of consultants, together with officers from the administration and State Catastrophe Administration, performed a door-to-door survey within the areas which had been affected by the land subsidence in Uttarakhand’s Joshimath.

Garhwal Commissioner Sushil Kumar and Catastrophe Administration Secretary Ranjit Kumar Sinha began the door-to-door survey in Joshimath.

Out of 561 institutions, 153 in Ravigram ward, 127 within the Gandhinagar ward, 28 within the Marwadi ward, 24 within the Decrease Bazaar ward, 52 within the Singhdhar ward, 71 within the Manohar Bagh ward, 29 within the Higher Bazaar ward 27 within the Sunil ward and 50 in Parsari reported cracks, in response to Chamoli district administration assertion.

The operations of Lodge View and Malari Inn had been restricted beneath the Catastrophe Administration Act, 2005, until additional orders, the assertion added.

On Thursday, a complete of 9 households had been displaced, which incorporates 4 households in Joshimath Municipal Company, one from Gurudwara Joshimath, one from Vacationer Hostel, Manohar Bagh and others.

A complete of 38 households have been displaced thus far.

Notably, Joshimath Municipal Chairman Shailendra Pawar stated large cracks appeared within the homes on account of a leakage of water from inside the bottom within the Marwadi ward.

The Chamoli district administration on Thursday requested Hindustan Development Firm Ltd (HCC) and Nationwide Thermal Energy Company (NTPC) to be ready to shelter the affected households migrating from Uttarakhand’s Joshimath on account of land subsidence. (ANI)
