‘Vitiated by fraud’: SC upholds Calcutta HC order cancelling appointment of over 25,000 staffers in Bengal schools | India News

The Supreme Courtroom Thursday upheld an order by the Calcutta Excessive Courtroom that invalidated the appointment of 25,753 lecturers and non-teaching workers within the state-run and state-aided faculties in 2016.

Announcing the decision, the apex courtroom stated the choice technique of the West Bengal College Service Fee (SSC) was “vitiated by manipulation and fraud”.

Nevertheless, the bench added that the staff, whose appointments have been cancelled, is not going to need to return their salaries and different emoluments.

The courtroom had reserved its judgement on the alleged rip-off in February after contemplating 124 petitions, that included one by the West Bengal authorities, opposing the excessive courtroom’s verdict.

Greater than 23 lakh candidates had appeared for the SLST 2016 for twenty-four,640 vacant posts. The CBI had earlier arrested former state schooling minister Partha Chatterjee over alleged irregularities in recruitment.
