Fountains of lava have spewed from a fissure in south-west Iceland, within the third volcanic eruption since December.
Spectacular footage from the Reykjanes peninsula confirmed molten rock oozing alongside a fissure estimated at 3km (1.86 miles) in size close to Sylingarfell.
Plumes of lava shot greater than 50m (160ft) into the air, witnessed by a Coast Guard helicopter flying over the peninsula early on Thursday morning.
The close by city of Grindavik was already evacuated over the past eruption on 14 January, and on Thursday visitors had been advised to depart the favored Blue Lagoon geothermal spa due to the most recent eruption.
