Commemorating the ninetieth anniversary of JRD Tata’s first business flight, the pilot of a Dubai-Amritsar plane on Saturday recalled the “historic second”, one which marked “the start of an period of aviation” for India. It was on October 15, 1932 that Tata made historical past by flying his first business flight from Karachi in Pakistan to Juhu in Mumbai.
“At the moment is a really special occasion for Indian aviation. It was 90 years in the past, on this very day, armed with a pair of goggles, navigation charts, and a slide rule, {that a} younger JRD Tata scripted historical past for India by flying his first business flight,” the pilot introduced.

Tata carried 25 kilograms of air mail from Karachi and landed in Juhu, Mumbai on his first journey, he added.
“Little did we all know then that this historic second could be a precursor to the launch of India’s iconic provider Air India, and the start of an period of aviation for the nation”, the pilot mentioned.
