Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday lauded India’s younger chess gamers for his or her historic achievement on the forty fifth Chess Olympiad in Budapest, the place each the boys’s and girls’s groups clinched their maiden gold medals.

India made historical past on Sunday as the boys’s group defeated Slovenia and the ladies’s group triumphed over Azerbaijan within the remaining spherical, securing their first-ever gold medals on the prestigious occasion.

Within the males’s competitors, D Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi, and R Praggnanandhaa secured decisive wins within the eleventh and remaining spherical.
The ladies’s group secured their gold by defeating Azerbaijan.

In a video shared on social media, Modi interacted with the chess champions, together with R Vaishali, D Harika, Tania Sachdev, Vidit Gujrathi, Arjun Erigaisi, and Praggnanandhaa.

D Gukesh, the star of the event, received 10 out of 11 rounds within the Open class, taking part in a vital position in India’s victory.
