Weeks after Karnataka cricketer complains of losing Rs 24 lakh in fake IPL deal, 2 men held from UP | Bangalore News

The Belagavi police on Tuesday arrested two males from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly dishonest a 19-year-old state-level cricketer in Karnataka of Rs 24 lakh after falsely promising him a spot within the Rajasthan Royals group within the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The police recognized the arrested accused as Susanjan and Diwakar, residents of Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh, and mentioned that they’re of their late twenties.

“Investigations revealed that Susanjan has equally cheated two extra individuals. Diwakar has dedicated a criminal offense for the primary time,” Bheemashankar S Guled, Superintendent of Police, Belagavi mentioned.

In Could final 12 months, Rakesh Yadure from Chinchani village in Belagavi district’s Chikkodi taluk impressed selectors throughout a match in Hyderabad. Yadure had posted the video of the match and images on Instagram, following which the accused allegedly despatched him a good friend request on Instagram.

In response to the police, the accused claimed that they had been a part of the expertise search unit for the Rajasthan Royals. In December 2024, Yadure mentioned he obtained an Instagram message claiming he had been chosen to play for the IPL group. The sender requested him to fill out a type and pay a Rs 2,000 registration payment.

Between December 22, 2024, and April 19, 2025, Yadure allegedly made repeated funds totalling Rs 23.53 lakh. The accused allegedly promised him match funds starting from Rs 40,000 to Rs 8 lakh to maintain him engaged, Yadure instructed the police.

On Could 17, after realising that he had been conned, Yadure, the son of a safety guard with the Karnataka State Street Transport Company, approached the police and filed a grievance with the Belagavi CEN police, who launched an investigation.

SP Guled mentioned that the accused had used the cash for private bills. He additionally appealed that the general public mustn’t fall prey to such scams.
