A youth from Himachal Pradesh has accused Bengaluru police of extortion and harassment in a viral Twitter thread, prompting authorities to launch an enquiry. Vaibhav Patil, a local of Himachal Pradesh, had moved to Bengaluru six months in the past. The incident occurred as he was returning house after working an evening shift at a non-public agency, The Indian Categorical reported.
Patil alleged that two law enforcement officials stopped him within the street at round 4 am on Wednesday and questioned him, to which he cooperated. The officers started looking out his bag and “planted” a packet of marijuana in it, which they used to extorted cash from him, Patil claimed.
Threatening to file a narcotics case on him, the officers allegedly pushed him to confess that he consumed ganja, saying that his arrest would win each of them a reward of ₹15,000 every. Patil was let go after he handed over the ₹2,500 he had on him, the report added.
“Hello, I’m Vaibhav Patil from Himachal Pradesh and for the reason that day I landed in Bangalore about 6 months in the past, I’ve confronted nothing however discrimination,” Patil’s tweet learn.
Responding to his now deleted tweets, DCP C Ok Baba stated, “Expensive Vaibhav. We perceive that you’re anxious and scared. Request you to DM your particulars and meet me at my workplace ASAP, and be assured that we’ll provoke motion.. You possibly can attain me.”
The DCP informed Hindustan Instances that the police have been in a position to attain him and that an enquiry is on-going.
