An early morning explosion in Douglas County sparked a fireplace that shortly engulfed a Sedalia house and RV, sheriff’s officers stated.
Douglas County sheriff’s deputies responded to experiences of an explosion on Platte Avenue in Sedalia round 3:15 a.m. Saturday, the sheriff’s workplace stated in a statement on social media.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered a home and an RV on hearth. One photo posted by the sheriff’s workplace exhibits the home completely engulfed in flames with the roof destroyed.
Deputies instantly started evacuating close by homes whereas crews from West Douglas County Fireplace Safety District and South Metro Fireplace Rescue started firefighting efforts, the sheriff’s workplace stated.
“A neighbor made the preliminary name, and a West Douglas volunteer firefighter that lives a block away was first on scene and evacuated a resident residing in a second RV on the rear of the property,” stated David George-Nichols, assistant chief of West Douglas County Fireplace Safety District.
No accidents have been reported and the reason for the fireplace remains to be below investigation, the sheriff’s workplace stated.
