Muslim couple threatened, prevented from watching ‘Kantara’ in Karnataka

Mysuru: A Muslim couple was threatened and prevented from watching the movie, Kantara, at Sullia in Dakshina Kannada district on Wednesday afternoon, police stated.

In response to eyewitnesses, the couple, each faculty college students belonging to Kerala and learning in KVG establishments, got here to observe the movie at Santhosh theatre. Seeing the woman’s hijab, a close-by shopkeeper alerted Muslim youth who got here and questioned the couple for watching the film.

The boy was assaulted by the group for watching Kantara, which, based on the grievance, the attackers stated was supporting Hindu tradition. Later the couple returned from the theatre with out watching the film.

“We now have obtained info by means of social media. The couple didn’t file a grievance, however we tracked them down and requested them to file a grievance. Based mostly on their grievance, now we have registered an FIR and we’re looking out for the suspect,” stated Dileep Rai, sub-inspector of Sulia police station.

The FIR has been registered underneath sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (assault), 504 (intentional insults) and 506 (legal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

In one other incident, Malavalli city police in Mandya district registered a grievance towards a girl for allegedly imitating Daiva Nartakaand and gathering cash from devotees. In a grievance, S Puneet Kumar, a resident of Malavalli city, stated that the lady, Shivalingamma, was doing pooja at her dwelling for 3 years on Kanakapura highway.

After the discharge of the film Kantara, the lady began imitating the film hero recreating the scream, which is revered as a sigh of the presence of god by some communities in coastal Karnataka. The grievance acknowledged that the lady collected gold and money from devotees claiming to invoke god inside herself.

“We now have obtained a grievance from one particular person alleging that the lady imitating like Kantara film and gathering cash, and gold from devotees. We now have summoned the lady to the police station for questioning. She stated she is doing pooja each Monday and Friday at her dwelling for 3 years for the well-being of devotees,’’ Malavalli city police station inspector B Rajesh stated.

If another one who misplaced the cash or gold provides a grievance, police will register an FIR, he added.

“The group of devotees began swelling after the discharge of the movie Kantara as the lady imitating the hero by means of a divine scream. The girl broadcasts the time in the day past that god invoked her,‘’ S Puneet Kumar the complainant stated.

He stated that the lady claiming invoked god demanding devotees to donate gold mangal sutra and money to god, promising god would clear up the issues. The brother of a girl collects choices by devotees,” he stated.

“She, in fraudulent methods, is misusing the religion of a gaggle of individuals in coastal Karnataka to earn money. This can be a case of dishonest and now we have requested police to analyze the case,” he added.
