Two armed theft suspects have been arrested in Lakewood Tuesday afternoon after a residential standoff close to the busy intersection of West Colfax Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard, police stated.
The incident unfolded about 9:20 a.m. at Champion Liquor & Wine, 6111 West Colfax Ave., based on the Lakewood Police Division.
A few suspects “robbed a number of bottles of liquor at gunpoint,” stated John Romero, a police spokesman. A number of individuals outdoors the shop in the course of the incident fled on foot together with the suspects.
Police traced suspects to a townhome within the 1600 block of Depew Road, Romero stated. The division’s SWAT group was referred to as out and about 10 a.m. a shelter in place notification was made to close by residents.
One suspect contained in the townhome surrendered at 12:34 p.m. and a second suspect three minutes later, Romero stated. The scene on the townhome was cleared about 1:30 p.m. Police imagine one of many suspects resides on the townhome.
The suspects, who have been the one two individuals contained in the residence, have been held for investigation of armed theft. No pictures have been fired. Romero couldn’t say whether or not a gun was recovered. An investigation is ongoing.
